Adolescents and Bleeding Gums

Published on April 24, 2012 by

Adolescents should exercise proper oral hygiene care at home, because 75% of all children between the ages of 13 – 17 have bleeding gums. Teens should brush thoroughly in the morning, after meals, and before bedtime, and should floss at least onceĀ a day. Choosing a proper nutritious diet will help maintain and preserve their teeth and gums. Teens that wear braces should pay special attention to keeping the spaces between the teeth and archwires clean by using floss threaders and thoroughly brushing around all banded teeth.
